Welcome to Joe Brown shops at Llanberis & Capel Cruig

The Llanberis shop was opened by Joe Brown and his wife Val, when they moved to to the village in 1966. The Capel Curig shop, about 10 miles away, opened a few years later.

The Joe Brown helmet was originally manufactured by Joe himself in the back room of the Llanberis shop, and it was here that he later made the Joe Brown harnesses and climbing software.

For any who don’t know, Joe Brown was the foremost rock climber and mountaineer of his generation, and perhaps the greatest all round mountaineer ever. Indeed, he is still climbing, although now in his mid-seventies.
